More Beautiful Lighthouse Tours
This morning we left our cute Air BnB in Yarmouth to tour some of the lighthouses in the area. We visited one in Rockland called the Break Lighthouse. This required us to walk a mile each way out a crossed hand-hewn stones to get to the lighthouse. It was a really fun walk. The second was our favorite called Owls Head Light. Here we were able to climb up to the top of the lighthouse. There was a guide there that talked about lighthouses and how the Maine Nova Scotia area and Owls Head in particular is the biggest bay to harvest lobster in the world. We finished by watching the fishermen come in from their day's work.

Birthday Boat Ride & Lighthouse Tour
It’s my birthday today! What a fun way to celebrate. We went on a harbor cruise in Cascade Bay in Portland, Maine. Scenic tour and perfect weather all day. We ate a lemon glazed Holy Doughnut, had a Lobby Pop at Highroller, visited some beautiful lighthouses, and had the most delicious dinner at Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro. Matt had a chicken Marsala which was to die for. And on the way home we bought a cherry pie to end my perfect day!

Freeport, Maine
We stopped today to shop at the LL Bean outlet and a few other shops. Then had lunch at a little place tha served us a lobster BLT and a fisherman’s basket of sea scallops and shrimp. Then we hiked in a gorgeous state park called Wolfes Neck. It was nice to end the afternoon with a good nap. Tonight we played 80’s trivial pursuit and watched a series called Down for Love.

More pics from our Drive to Maine
This drive was one of the most beautiful I have been on. Everything was so lush and green.
Coastal Drive
Today we decided to just take our time and enjoy the coastal towns along our way. The first stop was in Salem, Massachusetts. We learned a bit more about the witch trials there, a sad piece of history. But Salem had its bit of charm and was a lovely place to shop. Next stop was a break for lunch in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, at a place called Popovers. Great clam chowder and a popover served with maple butter. In York, Maine we took pictures of a beautiful lighthouse called Cape Neddick Nubble lighthouse. One of my favorite stops was in Kennebunkport, Maine. It was a fishing village where they used to build ships. Breathtakingly scenic. I could relax there all day, with a slice of blueberry pie alamode. And finally we reached our destination at a darling AirBnB in Yarmouth, Maine where we will be staying for the last 4 days of our trip.

Walking the Freedom Trail
Today we walked several miles on the freedom trail. My brother in law Mike is a history buff who acted as our tour guide. It was so much fun seeing the Old North Church and the Granary cemetery where many great patriots are buried including Paul Revere and John Hancock, I also learned much more about things in history that I never paid much attention to. Being here in this city brings it all to life for you. If you have never visited, you should. It’s has been a real treat.
