Happy Birthday Caleb!

Our boy Caleb is now 17. Oh no, How did this all happen so fast? Caleb has been a wonderful son to raise. He's a very caring and sensitive person who is always aware of others and how they might be feeling. When he was a little boy we always used to smile at how grateful he was for everything you gave him. Even the basic things in life like a good hot meal, he would thank you for profusely. He is still grateful and we are proud of how he has chosen to conduct his life and of the good friends he continues to make. Just recently he got his state championship ring for participating in football this year. He has loved wearing it and I think it will be a fun memento for many years to come. "Happy 17th Caleb, we all love you very much! "

Baby Moses?

When we first adopted Mikayla, her aunt and uncle passed along the cutest picture of our cute baby Mikayla in a basket at about 8 or 9 months old....I have always since called it the "baby moses" picture...isn't she cute.
Fast forward five years later, Mikayla is wired like the energizer bunny. Meaning she wakes up early, no longer naps and is still going strong when bedtime rolls around. The other night we were all pretty exhausted and she didn't want to go to sleep. I finally retired to my room as she pulled blankets out of the closet, clothes out of the dresser drawers, read dozens of books and emptied a few laundry baskets filled with stuff to be put away the next day. Finally at 11:00 p.m. this is how we found her. Our sweet "baby Moses" sound asleep at last. WHEW!

"Captain Underpants"

Miguel was caught red-handed a few weeks ago with what appeared to be some major loot shoved down his pants as he headed to the basement for the night. Upon discovering his rather large midsection we frisked him to see what goods he had, and to make sure no major construction projects would be going on in his room that night. What we discovered was that Miguel wasn't hiding a lighter, pocket knife, hammer or straightening iron down his pants (all of which we have discovered before). It was just 15-20 pairs of underpants all being worn at the same time. He was quite frustrated that we had all found out. Sadly he had given himself a rash from so many underwear rubbing up and down his legs. He had no reasonable explanation when I approached him, but later that night our older son Colton who shares a room with Miguel was able to have a good heart to heart with him. Colton started by asking, "Hey bud, why all the underwear?" Miguel rolls his eyes, puts both hands on his forehead and exhasperated breathes out, "Colton this is really awkward." Colton continued to press for an answer when Miguel finally admits that it kind of makes him feel a little fat when he wears them all. Colton said, "and you like to feel fat?" Miguel replies, "Yeah it sort of feels good." So there you have it and it's happened many time since. None of us seem to get it, but in Miguel's world it makes perfect sense. We love our funny little boy!!!!

Color at Last

I have a confession to make. When it comes to color I'm a little phobic. I like it in other people's houses, but I have been totally content with all white walls in my house for over 10 years now. I don't know why. Perhaps it's because white is clean and light and you really can't mess up decorating too much when you choose to go with it. We finally decided however to break out of our comfort zone and add a little color to our lives. At first I was a little nervous but now that we've done it I love the results. All of the paints are from Restoration Hardware. So far Matt and I have painted a room each Saturday in January and we are almost through with the main floor. Here are some of the results, we're still in the process of updating our decor to go with the new paint. It's been a great project to beat the winter blahs.
Cappucino
Silver Sage
Blue Sage (our favorite)

Kenzies Drill Team Competitions

Our cute niece Mackenzie has been performing in many drill team competitions the last couple of months. She attends Salem Hills High School and is a Senior there. I was able to attend two performances one in Bountiful and the other at UVU. She's is such a cute girl and a beautiful dancer. It brought back a lot of fond memories from my high school days when I was on Drill team. I've included some fun pics of Kenzie and her team (she's third from the left in both pictures). Thanks for letting us come, it was a really fun time.
